For The New Witch: Spring Equinox + How To Work Your Flower Magick.

Happy Ostara/ Spring Equinox you beautiful flower children!

If you're wondering just exactly what Ostara is, it's the day where Earth wakes up from the best sleep of her life. Sharing this moment with Spring Equinox (The beginning of Spring) , we enter a period of rebirth. It's the day of the divine feminine/ goddess. The renewal we experience is a very special time for kickstarting new goals, revisiting old ideas, etc. Scott Cunningham, author of "Wicca: A Guide For The Solitary Practitioner." Says that Ostara is when "The Goddess blankets the earth with fertility, bursting forth from her sleep, as the God stretches and grows to maturity. He walks the greening fields and delights in the abundance of nature. (pg 64.)"     I've recently started working with plant magick and dedicating myself  into practicing flower magick. For me Ostara is a time for blooming, Now is the time to stretch your petals and let yourself ease your way into a new transformation.

I like to think of this time as me stepping out into the world after brainstorming an idea. It's a time for me personally to let my creations that I have nurtured through the dark winter months, out for some sunlight. The greatest gift of witchcraft is that you're constantly learning, and expanding your limits. The magick you produce now will be the energy that lasts for awhile, so ask yourself if you're ready to get what you manifest? If you're celebrating your first Ostara like me, I want to say this. The power that you feel is all yours, and how you will it will be a key part into this life of yours. Now is the perfect time to cleanse your home, your work space, your storage on your phone, etc.  Spring cleaning means getting rid of the cobwebs and opening yourself up to the divine.

Taking a breath of fresh air spiritually, Spring Equinox slides us right into Aries season (Sun in Aries (3/21-4/19) like a road made of gold. Aries, ruled by Mars and the very 1st zodiac sign brings in a fiery passion for rebranding oneself. While Aries can be aggressive, the sign is also one of the most independent, and assertive signs! If you've been feeling lost in your practice, tap into the energetic boost that Aries brings in. If there's something you want to learn how to do, take a class, connect with people in that particular field, head to your local library, buy books, etc. Your mind is ready to take in new information, it's time to learn and really excel in your path. Push yourself to new heights, and be patient in your journey. With Mercury stationing Retrograde in Aries, we get a really special moment universally. Mercury Retrograde is a reminder that we don't need to rush, and that taking our time to plan things out will actually help us in the long run.

Since Mercury represents the mind and communication, be careful about the words that you speak. I like to think of Mercury Rx as a time of simple living, and really focusing on my physical life. Like visiting coffee shops, redecorating my living space, hanging out with close friends, and even just writing more. Rediscover the things that you love to do, and something new while you're at it. Let you mind disconnect from the idea of time, and timelines because once you slow down and focus you'll see things differently.

Growth is a natural and exciting part of life, like the flowers that have begun to bloom. We too share a very special bond with the springtime, and like the planet we live on we began a new cycle as well.

"Springtime is like waking up from that good nap you took on a rainy Saturday afternoon. "

I'm a person who suffers from seasonal depression, it's something I've experienced my entire life, and I'm just now recognizing how to live with it. Since I began practicing magick I've noticed how I've connected deeply to the changing of the seasons. I've noticed that any form of magick that I do is directly linked with the seasons. For Spring Equinox I decided to spend time with my closests friends as my form of ritual. Spending time with the people that I love, is one way that I connect with my heart. Friendships of any kind should always be honored, because these people are who you choose to have in your life.

Having deep, and meaningful conversations can help you find answers that you've been seeking. Let yourself be cared for this spring, let those who love you do their job. . . Being there. Plants are self sufficient yes, but they can always use a helping hand every once in a while.

Here's a simple Springtime ritual list that you can do! You don't have to do everything on this list, or anything at all! Remember you can make your ritual look like whatever you want it to!

  1. Meditation: Take the first 10 minutes of your day to sit with your thoughts, and allow your body to wake up!
  2. Early morning yoga/gym session : Waking up early can actually improve your mental health. Exercising is a perfect way to wake your mind up and get pumped for the day.
  3. Planning your day: You can always do this the night before, either way making a day to day schedule will help you stay F O C U S E D!
  4. Eating BALANCED meals: A plant can't grow if its environment is unhealthy. Spring cleaning counts for your body too!
  5. Making time for MEANINGFUL relationships:  Stop being a homebody and do your part in keeping your relationships solid with the people you love.
  6. Take a break from social media: Disconnect from the internet for a little bit! Now's the perfect time to get outside and live a little.
  7. Get a tarot reading: So many messages are coming through fast this spring, use this energy to connect to the divine and dive deeper into the meaning of your journey. If you're interested in learning how to read tarot buy yourself a deck. For my dollar store witches, buy a deck of playing cards, and a good book on the meaning of Tarot. My favorite is The Ultimate Guide to Tarot by Liz Dean, you can purchase it at your local bookstore or Amazon!

I hope you find your answers in this post, and that you continue to grow in your journey in witchcraft. Happy Spring Equinox!

How I Discovered My Magick.

via Google

via Google

I was always inspired by the witches in movies as a child, I wanted to be Ursula instead of Ariel & Practical Magic is the movie that I still watch at least three times a week. Sabrina The Teenaged Witch was my favorite comic book, I used to sketch out the covers in my own notebook.  Always loving the broom in her hand and her fearlessness, Sabrina always knew to trust herself and let her magick flow. The Craft taught me to manifest my wildest dreams, and that everything comes with a consequence. Jayde from The Drama High series taught me to remember my ancestors, and to call on my spirit guides whenever I need a reminder of where I come from. These were the women and stories who I found pieces of myself within.

There was something special about certain moments in my life, looking back I can see why they were.  I've always known that witchcraft and magick lived within me, but as most of us do I let what I was taught cloud who I am.  Witchcraft isn't a hobby for me, it's the most exciting part of who I am. This path and this journey have led me to more questionable and mentally stimulating moments than ever. It's who I am because it's the only thing I've ever known, I say that knowing that who I am is magical in every way. I'm connected to animals in ways that most people aren't, I can tell what weather is coming by how the wind blows, I always have an answer for everything, and when I don't my silence is an answer in itself.  Magick isn't something you can just buy in a shop, it lives deep within you, pumps through your being like a waterfall.

I remember writing my own spell once in high school, it didn't work because I forget the key ingredient... Believing in it.  In High school I found myself being drawn to astrology and tarot cards. Although, the tarot was always at the back of mind, Miss Cleo (RIP) sparked interest me quite a few times with her infomercials.  I was too afraid of what I had been conditioned to believe, so I hid from what I secretly wanted. I used to casually (all the fucking time)  visit this online tarot game on the-n.com (that website needs to make a comeback). I was high key obsessed with it because it was always accurate, and I found that to be more than just a coincidence.

I bought my first physical deck last year, I remember the excitement I felt after I opened the box. It felt new, and spiritually lifting that's how I knew that reading the tarot was my key to God/dess and that I finally felt a piece of me lock in. Reading tarot cards has been emotionally freeing, I find an answer to things I didn't even know I was unintentionally asking for, and to things that I actively search for within. My gift for clarity has come full circle for me, and I've learned how to share my gifts with other people.  Slowly I am coming into my purpose, and am using it to help those around me.  Imagine climbing a large mountain, where you can see the peak in the distance. The path is made up of so many different terrains and you know that the only way to the top is to keep learning about yourself.  That's what it's been like for me; the deeper I go within the higher I climb and the more clear my intuition becomes.

Falling in love with yourself is the true definition of falling head over heels in love. I realized that if I want something to happen I have to fully believe in that want. Allowing myself to get to know myself became a necessity for me. It hasn't been easy though, falling in love with myself has also come with some very triggering moments. Self care is more than just a bath bomb and yoga, it's facing those demons that you locked away once. Self care is looking at yourself in the mirror and truly seeing the person staring back at you. For me, that meant coming to terms with a lot of things.

Truth telling comes with a price, and often that price can be heavy and feel like a weight is constantly sitting on your chest. Digging in deeper is the key to understanding yourself and the world you live in (we don't all live in the same dimensions). The farther I go into my own journey the more I experience.  I've found myself traveling the galaxies randomly, and my dreams are clearer than they have ever been. Diving deeper into a higher conscience projects you into a completely different living experience.

I see the world and what it truly is instead of what I was told it looks like, learning about the universe and it's many dimensions has brought a significant amount of joy. Although, there are parts that have been frightening;  like the one time I had a very interactive dream and was floating through the galaxies.  It was beautifully terrifying because it was very, very real and I had never experienced something so bigger than myself before.

YOU HAVE TO GET UNCOMFORTABLE TO GET COMFORTABLE.

I've found that on this journey of witchcraft it isn't always about rituals and spells. It's about learning to listen to your soul and using that voice to influence the world you live in. Creating the life that you KNOW is meant for you is difficult sometimes. However when you've got the universe and spirit on your side, what can go wrong? Trust is the biggest thing; trust that your divine plan is specifically yours, trust that your magick is powerful, trust that your spirit guides & guardian angels have your back in everything that you do.

Also, magick isn't something to play with. The same way it can create something beautiful, it can also do some serious damage if you're not careful. I'm not saying you can't hex someone or whatever, that's your business. Just be mindful that EVERYTHING we do will find it's way back to us. So if you're out here putting serious hexes on people for fun, that energy will find it's way right back into your own life and be worse than when you sent it out. Now, if someone is bugging you handle them accordingly, like remove them from your space all together.

Full Moon Reading || 03. 13. 17

Happy Full Moon pals! This is the full moon right before Spring Equinox comes into play, and I've been feeling the effects since last week! This full moon kicked off in Virgo and made it's way into Libra. As an air sign, I always feel very light when the moon is in one of us. However, Virgo was so good to me, with finishing last details before kicking off some exciting adventures. Full Moon's are for self assessment, where are you at on your journey? What are you doing to aid your purpose? Have you taken time out to tend to your spirits needs?

What message do the cards have for you this week?

Continue on your journey of healing , and self discovery.  Let go of your past fears and let yourself enter the phase that has been knocking at your door. Don't hesitate in making your decisions, now is the time to really listen to that voice that you've been ignoring. Treating yourself by taking care of yourself is what's important right now. Dive back into the things that you find joy in or try something new. Try taking a pottery class, or a dance class! No matter what just put some self love into your daily routines.

The Source

This card keeps making its appearance because The Source is spiritual and infinite energy. It is what feeds your soul and carries through you.  Get to know your source, get to know you from the soul out. Just remember to take note that if you're vibing on lower frequencies and allowing outside forces to interfere you're not allowing your source to do its job. Now is the time to truly put your armor on and protect what's yours. You're the water, you can pick and choose what vibes you want on your current. Maybe it's time to lighten your load and remove the things that you haven't needed in a very long time.

Earth

Harmony & Friendliness

Treat yourself as well as you treat others, that's something you can forget often. As loving as you are Earth sign, sometimes it's nice to treat yourself too! These two cards suggest that when you put yourself as your main focus harmony will follow.  It's kind of like this . . . Listening to yourself is living in a higher state & is good for the wellbeing of your purpose. Living a well balanced life is only true when all of ourself is in sync. Find comfort within yourself and allow your heart to guide you. Try wearing a Rose Quartz , or sleeping with one in or next to your bed. Burning or spraying your space with Frankincense is another aid to clearing out your space and making it comfortable. Visit your local botanica or metaphysical shop to pick some up this week! A clean space is a happy spirit!

Air

We Are The World

Create your wildest dreams, because what you manifest now will shape your future in every way. Spring Equinox is approaching next week, and it's the day where the Sun comes to us in Aries after relaxing all Winter long. It's also the Astrological New Year, and with all of these new beginnings what is yours? The flowers are getting ready to bloom, and the Earth comes to life once again. Don't forget that you are a flower too, you know what to do because it's who you are.  Trust that you're protected, because Air sign you are insanely protected by the divine. Follow your instinct and create the world that you've been too scared to live in.

Tarot Cards Are a Girl's Best Friend.

by Kirsten F.

I've had an interest in tarot reading since the first time I heard Miss Cleo's "Call me now!" on late night infomercials. It was like this itch that I could never scratch, but I couldn't bring myself to do it.  Growing up in an Adventist household things like horoscopes, tarot reading and witchcraft weren't gonna fly. I always felt like I had this massive secret as a kid, how I would secretly day dream about having magical powers, and creating my own world. Reading Sabrina The Teenage Witch comics and thinking how I wanted to do what she did. Watching Practical Magic, Kiki's Delivery Service and The Craft like they were the only movies that mattered. Being a witch was always the most exciting thing to me. How you can use the Earth as a part of a spell. How you just know what to do, and trust that it'll go the way it's meant to. My teenaged years were filled with writing spells, reading The Drama High series, and sneaking on every horoscope site I could find. I also found myself weirdly drawn to a tarot reading fortune telling game on The-N.com.

(tbh they need to bring that site back)

I would ask it the most random questions,  but somehow every time I got the answer I was looking for. I didn't know it then, but my intuition has always been very, very clear and strong. The day I purchased my very first deck it felt like I had finally plugged into a piece of me. Reading tarot cards have become a way of life for me, and sometimes for my friends as well. I find myself always giving readings when someone needs a little advice.  Let me tell you this though, I can't read the future. I don't know what's going to happen in your life nor do I pretend to know.

The cards also don't know, however they present their message when it's needed. What they can tell you is what you need to hear in that moment, or what you already know. The magick behind the Tarot is listening, and being receptive to the message being presented to you.  There's so many ways for a person to get into interpreting the tarot, and its many decks. I personally use The Osho Zen Tarot deck, and I've discovered that I like it more than the traditional (like the Rider - Waite) tarot cards.  Choose whatever cards speak to you the most, because that's the most important thing when you're purchasing a deck.

Also, I'm not going to lie doing your first spread is a bit confusing sometimes.  I found myself looking into other people's spreads for a bit of extra guidance. Which is okay, learn your craft! Whether you're being taught by someone or self teaching you can always find "study guides"! Creating your own spreads is also a great way to learn,  allow your hands to create a space for you.  Trust in your body, and know that whatever you're creating is coming to life for a reason.

Try pulling a card each day to get familiar with your deck, not only is that a good way to start recognizing what cards are present, but there's nothing like starting your day off with a good affirmation. There's so many different ways you can start reading tarot cards, and there's so much information about them online. That's the cool thing about being a mystical/spiritual/witch etc these days. We have access to so many different ways to create our magick.

Here's a few of my favorite spreads to get you started!

1.   The Self - Esteem Tarot by The Hoodwitch

I've used a few of the spreadsthat Bri (The Hoodwitch)  has suggested and created, and let me tell you she never disappoints. Check out how to read this self love spread HERE !

2.  Universal 6 Card Spread by Lotus Tarot

I've been using this online spread for a few years now,  I have always personally felt extremely connected to this spread for a number of reasons. No matter what your preference is, remember that your intuition is the leading factor. . . LISTEN! Check out this reading on Lotus Flower  .

3. The 3 Paged Letter by K.R.

This is a spread that I created myself, I use it when I do quick readings for people! This spread is fairly simple to follow, from left to right;

1. A letter from your spirit guides.
2. A letter from your subconscious.
3. A letter from me to you.

I call them letters because they are messages being brought into your life & I (or you!) get to help deliver them. You can tweak this spread to whatever you need to. As always, magick is what you make of it so make it count! You can find more of my spreads on my Instagram and Snapchat

What are some of your favorite spreads to use when interpreting the tarot?

Happy Friday and stuff! February is coming to a close, a new moon in Pisces is coming up and the sun is also in Pisces so get ready to feel some intense energy! New Moon's are for truth seeking, cleansing, and starting new.  Make new goals, or work on the one's you already have. Do some soul searching and start the process of getting rid of habits that no longer suit you. Invest in your spiritual self this weekend. Drink some lavender tea, or use lavender oil in a bath! Get a tarot reading for new introspect on some things. Just check in and get grounded, let this energy from Pisces rejuvenate you!

Past Lives

Get ready for change to come your way very, very soon. However, what kind of change that is depends on your vibrational level. If you're vibrating on a lower level that is what sort of energy will form in your life. Your thoughts, emotional thought, and spirit alignment are all apart of what you manifest. If you've got some bad vibes sticking around do a cleanse, do a protection spell, or whatever it is that you need to turn your spiritual volume up a notch. Know this, you have the power to decide what comes of your life.

Air (Aquarius, Gemini, Libra)

Turning In

This card has been making it's rounds recently, and for good reason too. The spirit guides are screaming this message of vibing with oneself now. Listening to your intuition is more important than ever now. As air signs you are quite in tune with the universe and you feel it speaking whether you want to admit it or not. That content, focused, and sure feeling that's making place in your life is a good thing. You've tuned/are tuning into your own frequencies.  Own your truth and live in a state of higher consciousness. LISTEN to yourself and trust that your instinct, spirit guides, and whatever else you believe in will guide you. Your journey is yours and only yours so make it count.

Earth (Taurus , Virgo, Capricorn)

Schizophrenia

You've probably been going back and  forth with yourself over a lot of things recently. Do yourself a favor and stop worrying and just do it. There's honestly no debate once you actually listen to your inner self. Trust yourself to make the right decisions, and watch how your aspirations become more than just a dream life that you think about. Push fear, doubt, and control out of the way. Everything you've ever wanted can be yours if you just learn how to change your tone. Stop speaking to yourself as if it isn't who you are, how you view yourself is a huge part of how your manifestations become a reality.

The Fool + Slowing Down

When people think of the word fool they often think of the definition of foolish or foolishness with it. On the surface they may mean similar things, but spiritually they are inherently different. Being a spiritual fool is simply trusting that you'll always be okay. Having blind faith that your instinct will always guide you in the right direction. Going with the flow of your own personal current instead of being caught up in whatever society has thrown out. Slowing Down and The Fool presenting themselves as a pair is very important.  Your message is loud and very, very clear. Slow your roll and really focus on yourself and your divine purpose. Stop trying to solve all of your own problems through logic, maybe it's about time you give faith a chance.

Have a luniarious week/end!

New Moon in Aquarius.

by Kirsten F.

Tomorrow's new moon in Aquarius is welcomed with open arms, and it's still Aquarius season so I'm feeling all of the love right now. New moon's have become one of my favorite times, it's when I shut myself off and check in mentally. Of course everyone uses their time differently, but I will say that allowing yourself to be grounded is a necessity. Turn off your phone, take yourself out to eat, run a hot bath, read a book, write, etc... Do whatever your spirit is wanting to do, listen to yourself and trust that whatever you conjure up know that it is destined to be yours if you want  it to be.

Use this time to ask yourself the truth. What is it that you want out of this life? What are you doing to be present in your manifestations? What messages are your spirit guides giving you? What part of your self needs some extra attention? These are the questions that you should be asking yourself right now. Utilize the energy that the moon's blessing us with this weekend, there's no better time than the present to live the life you're meant for.

I wrote out my favorite new moon ritual below! Feel free to use it or tweak it to your liking, as always everyone's magick is different so use what you read as study guides!

Kirsten's Guide to The New Moon

1. Turn Off Social Media

It's been one hell of a week, and it's okay to check out of it all. Detach yourself from the world's issues and allow your mind to declutter. Go out into the world, hang out with your girls or your family. Go for a walk, and just sit in nature for a while.  Give in to the beauty of the world we live in and appreciate her for all that she's blessed us with.

2. Take A Bath

(or shower!) with your favorite scents that make you feel centered and to add a little boost of energy. Use the crystal(s) that coincide with your personal manifestations, allow yourself to submerge in your own world. Get your favorite bath bomb, essential oils (peppermint oil is my jam right now), and your crystals and sit in the tub! Read a book, drink a glass of wine (or juice), and let your body speak to you!

3 . Do A Self Reading

I like to do a self reading during the new and full moon phases, I tend to find hidden messages from my spirit guides and those messages help me process my current phase better. Whatever your personal form of spiritual connection is. Use this time of self reflection to get to know your own guides better.

4. Take A Walk

There's nothing like going for a stroll in your favorite park, or going for a hike with friends! Being out in nature is the perfect way to find comfort in yourself, be inspired by the breeze, trees, green grass, or whatever is around you. Allow yourself to check out mentally and just flow with the vibes of nature!

5. Meditate

I light my candles, and cleanse my space with sage! I do this once a week any way, but since it is my daily ritual I always make sure to incorporate it into my new moon ritual as well. I also like to stretch during this time! Yoga, or just simple stretches always help me find my center! Also lighting a energizing  incense scent can really add extra comfort to your meditation space.

6. Write Your New Moon Intentions.

This is a time for allowing yourself to dream and manifest your wildest dreams. Write down these intentions, write everything that you want to bring into your life. Whether that be love, financial stability, or even if you just want to be more organized. No matter what your intentions are they are yours, and once you write them down you are solidifying them. So be mindful about what you ask the universe to provide you with.

Leave me a comment below telling me about your favorite rituals to do during the new moon!
